Mike Dassios
Clarinet

Mike Dassios is a Canadian clarinetist based in Ottawa, Ontario. Active as a chamber musician, orchestral performer, and soloist, he has performed with ensembles across Canada in a wide range of settings. His playing is closely connected to his parallel career as an internationally recognized mouthpiece craftsman, where ongoing collaborations with leading soloists and orchestral players continue to shape his approach to sound and musicality. Mike spent nearly a decade as a musician in the Canadian Armed Forces Music Branch, performing as Solo B-flat, E-flat, and bass clarinets with ensembles such as the Royal Canadian Air Force Band and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces. In 2018, he was selected to serve with the RCAF Band as part of the Household Division at Buckingham Palace, an experience that brought him into a unique ceremonial and international performance setting. Alongside his performing career, Mike has developed a distinguished international profile through his work as a mouthpiece crattsman. His collaborations have taken him throughout Europe, North America, and Asia, with particularly close artistic ties to players of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, as well as Italian and Greek clarinetists around Europe — connections that reflect his own Greek and Italian heritage. Grounded by this diverse experience, Mike is a collaborative and approachable musician with a strong affinity for chamber music.
